The restaurant was elegant for lunch, we ordered excellent dishes. It had excellent facilities in the bathroom: a roll in shower, hairdryers and robes.

Enjoyed my recent stay as a solo traveler. The location was superb, allowing easy access to attractions like the Exploratorium and Ferry Building. The room was clean and comfortable, and the morning buffet was a good way to start the day, although the quality could use improvement. One of the highlights was the fun atmosphere created by the staff, who even let me take some mini Tabasco sauce bottles home! It was a pleasant experience with a few areas for improvement.

Excellent location, beautiful architechture and. Decor in the public areas. Palatial overall. Restaurant is beautiful, food is OK, staff a bit too busy, they cram everyone to the bar area, complaining they are short staffed, hard to get attention. Gives you time to study the splendid decor, ceiling, pictures. Others resorted to layoing cards while waiting. Would have liked to sit in the middle or back part of the restaurant, but they refused to serve there, eventhough some people were eating there. With the high prices of the food and drinks, they could have hired a few extra servers.
Valet is $48, find it a bit steep. Parked on the street (free), was a bit worried as there were some seedy areas a few blocks away. Also the price of the room is a bit pricey for the size of the room.

Marvellous location in San Francisco so close to the Tenderloin, the restuarants, and the Bay Area for decades. For tea or coffee visit The Grove nearby. Well laid out and newly decorated room with 2 beds and perfect breakfast.
Uninspiring views from the window.

I liked the spacious room size, traditional and elegant style, and the historical aspect( I did the Saturday hotel tour). I especially enjoyed the Japenese breakfast that was delivered to my room and the Dimmer switch in the bathroom is a nice feature. The hotel staff provided impeccable service. I will come back to the Palace Hotel.
The only thing I can think of that would make it a bit more relaxed, more like home for me, would be to have a dimmer switch in the lamp next to the bed :)

The grand lobby is fine, and the Toto toilet in our room was a nice surprise! I loved the hotel's proximity to BART.

Pretty nice rooms but not great value for the money. Hotel staff was great and helpful. Beautiful old school hotel but could use some upgrades. Beds were very comfortable.
The pool area was gross and dirty. The ground was covered in hairs and I even saw a bandaid on the ground at the edge of the pool. This was like this both times we went to the pool with our little daughter and made me feel nauseous. Overall the pool should be cleaned way more often and is in dire need of an upgrade. The hotel in general could use an upgrade but not too bad for about $200 a night. Having to deposit $300 for staying there was a strange request as I had already given my credit card.

The heated pool was a hit with the kids. The location is perfect for exploring all that SF has to offer!
In my wife's opinion, a larger variety of gluten-free options would be great for families.

Very central
The walls of the rooms are very thin- for a luxury hotel and the amount it costs, I was quite annoyed to be woken numerous times on all three nights by people screaming and shouting in the rooms either side of me. Not great if you want a quiet stay!
